Have you ever heard of Agaitas? It’s an organization that runs free sports camps for kids in our community. This week Agaitas is hosting its largest and longest-running camp; Soccer! Every morning nearly 400 people have been gathering at the Warsaw Community High School soccer fields, including almost 300 campers from kindergarten to sixth graders. The camp is completely staffed by counselors made up of area high school and college students, and adults who volunteer their time and talents to mentor, teach, and share their love of soccer with the campers.
Since 2017, K21 has partnered with Agaitas by providing funds that have helped the organization to purchase the necessary equipment to offer this and many other camps. K21’s Board of Directors most recently approved a grant of over $17,000 so that Agaitas can expand both the number of soccer camps they offer, and the variety of sports. In additio n to this week’s large camp, Agaitas has hosted pop-up soccer camps in several mobile home communities. They will also host baseball, football, and golf camps at various times throughout the summer. For more information about Agaitas, please visit www.agaitas.com.
