Community Ice Rink to Open November 19 at the Miller Sunset Pavilion

K21 Health Foundation to host opening day for the highly-anticipated ice skating rink

Winona Lake, Ind. – The K21 Health Foundation (K21) is pleased to announce the Town of Winona Lake’s opening of the ice-skating rink at the Miller Sunset Pavilion on November 19, 2022. K21 has been the driving force behind the realization of this project that, for more than 20 years has been incubating through various Kosciusko Leadership Academy (KLA) white papers and sought by many community leaders.

K21 president and CEO Rich Haddad announced a $1.0M pledge towards the pavilion’s construction during the K21 20th anniversary celebration in 2019, which ultimately turned into a $1.5 million grant to the Town of Winona Lake’s development plan to make it happen in Kosciusko County.

Mary Louise Miller and the Miller family, who the building is named for, donated the land for the pavilion. She also was instrumental to the project by leading the development through formation of WL Ice, LLC, as well as financing construction.

“We at K21 greatly admire the work that so many people and businesses in the community have put in to make this project come to life,” says Haddad. “We believe this is the perfect destination for being active during the winter months, for both our community and communities across northern Indiana.

To help christen the opening of skating season, K21 is hosting a Community Free Skate on November 19th from noon to 8 p.m. Prizes and other surprises will be shared throughout the day, as well as free drinks and snacks for all skaters. There will also be a grand prize of a Family Season Pass for those attending the 12 p.m. opening!
