Since 1999, K21 Health Foundation has invested in the wellbeing of Kosciusko County community members by supporting nonprofits and organizations that impact their health. To help communicate this, we recently unveiled our new brand platform, Wellness for Generations, which explains what we believe in—our why.
Now, we’re excited to share our Health Pillars, which provide greater clarity about what we support as a grantmaker.
Our Health Pillars outline the types of opportunities we fund and how they contribute to fulfilling our vision for the community. “These pillars reflect the organizations and projects we’ve supported for the last 25 years,” explained Rich Haddad, President & CEO of K21 Health Foundation. “Nothing has changed, but this new way of organizing and talking about what we support will help current and potential grantees better understand our funding priorities.”
Community Culture & Wellbeing
K21 Health Foundation supports nonprofit organizations, programs and projects that encourage a community culture to prioritize health. From developing and improving community infrastructure and amenities, to protecting and enhancing natural assets, to providing opportunities that support an active lifestyle—a health-minded community creates wellness for generations.
Direct Services & Prevention
K21 Health Foundation supports nonprofit organizations, programs and projects that provide direct health services and develop healthy habits for our residents. Community members who receive the care they need, when they need it, and learn behaviors they can apply toward lifelong health contribute to wellness for generations.
Health Access & Opportunity
K21 Health Foundation supports nonprofit organizations, programs and projects that address barriers that prevent our community members from living healthy lives. These opportunities are created for residents to overcome economic, physical, cultural and social challenges that inhibit healthy behaviors, including homelessness, addiction recovery, abuse and more. When people have health access and opportunities, they take the first step to experiencing wellness for generations.
Youth Development & Activity
K21 Health Foundation supports nonprofit organizations, programs and projects that promote positive youth development and create opportunities for them to be active. Their ability to overcome barriers to development, address health issues that could hinder their progress and access preventive learning sets the stage for the rest of their lives. Youth who learn to live an active and healthy life become adults who prioritize their well-being, creating wellness for generations.
Jennifer Stewart, Grants Manager, added, “While we’re creating more clarity around what we fund, we always encourage anyone interested in our grants to reach out and have a conversation with us first. We love to get to know the individuals and organizations who are working to improve the health and wellness of Kosciusko County residents!”
